Ding Dong The Mouse Is Dead . . .

The good news is that the mouse (or, rather, mice) is dead.  The bad news is that I know the mouse is dead because I can smell his decomposing body . . . somewhere in the walls of our kitchen.  I can't find the mouse carcass because it is deep in the inner recesses of the walls.  So I fear we must just endure the dead mouse smell.  But in hopes of finding out how long it will take for the mouse smell to subside, I googled "when you poison a mouse how long does the smell last."  The first link was to the blog Living The Scientific Life.  Why did it come up?  Here's what it had to say:

Okay, for those of you who want to know about dead mice, I will tell you that they smell horrible for approximately 3-4 days. After that, they still smell but it's not as bad as it was -- perhaps because your sense of smell has been so severely compromised that you are no longer aware of it?

Also, I've noticed that dead mice smell differently, depending upon how they die. Mice that died after being stuck in sticky traps tend to smell like really dirty laundry, whereas mice that die after eating poison containing warfarin tend to smell like, well, dead mice, but there's a sweet smell mixed in with the stench. I hope this answers all your dead mouse questions. If not, feel free to ask and I will provide the answers because we all know that I am the internet expert of dead mice. 

Too funny.  II hope that Living The Scientific Life is correct.  Since we've been smelling the dead mouse since yesterday, that would mean only a couple more days of really nasty rotting carcass smell.  Hurray.  Thank you Internet for being the source of all knowledge.
