Being the musical theater junkie that I am, I know that song like the back of my hand. I've heard lots of performances of it, both live and recorded, and I'm far too familiar with the myriad ways that they can suck deeply and profoundly. I saw your description of the performance and thought, "No way. That song requires a mature voice. There's just no bloody way he can pull off the jazziness that it requires... it'll be too flat." But I'm curious, so I bravely hit play... keeping my mouse over the pause button just for safety's sake.
