Opening night has come and gone and I know you are all sick of reading about "Caroline, or Change." But I can't help but post links to the Chron and Merc reviews. Both are great reviews, but the Chronicle review is particularly glowing. Along with getting the cheering little man standing on his chair, the Chronicle calls the show "a stunning achievement for Kelley's ambitious company." As for Julian, the Chronicle reviewer writes, "an impressively focused and
pure-toned 12-year-old Julian Hornik is touching as Noah, an 8-year-old
trying to bond with the resistant Caroline after the death of his
mother." Now his impressively focused father gets to drive him to and from another 25 performances or so.
Julian got a standing ovation after his rendition of "Seasons of Love" at the TheatreWorks benefit.
Julian's friend Molly Bell has organized a fantastic concert the last three years running called Diva's for Life. The concert is a fund raiser for the Cancer Society and is a wonderful event. Molly calls upon her many friends in the Bay Area theater scene to come sing and enlists the amazing skills of pianist extraordinaire Bill Liberatore.
The song choices were fantastic. The performances were fantastic. It was an all around great night of entertainment. And Molly was kind enough to ask Julian up on stage to sing Seasons of Love, which thrilled him to death.
I look forward to seeing how I can help out with next year's Divas for Life concert. It was just fantastic.
